The end of the experiment

Today the AFOE project went to the end – thanks to everyone who supported us, with furniture moving, photography or just coming to hang out with us at Roodkapje!

De Architect about Architecture for One Euro

The blog section of one of the biggest architecture magazines in the Netherlands published an article about our initiative.

First project!

Day 2 and the first people have just come to talk to us! the issue – a long narrow house that is dark in the middle and needs a better lighting solution and a stair that is too wide to fit a standard gate to stop a toddler falling down the stairs.

Another sunny day in Rotterdam and Architecture For One Euro is open again between 12:00 and 17:00.

Dear All! Just to remind you, our project starts this Friday (21 October) with the opening party at Roodkapje (Meent 119-133, Rotterdam) at 18.00. After 20.00 it will continue in the Beatburger (the same location). We are looking forward to see you there!

Architecture for free!?

Architecture For Free?!

Only three days to go! Meanwhile, a similar experiment called Architecture For Free!? started in Storefront for Art and Architecture in NYC last week.

During this action the architects and designers are going to offer their services pro bono. The real meaning lying behind the beautiful latinism of pro bono, is the contemporary capitalist counterpart and less exotic “for free” and more precisely, for free for those who are unable to afford it.

Final countdown

Architecture for One Euro starts on Friday 21. October with a launch party. We will be hosted by Roodkapje Rotterdam (Meent 119-133). For couple of weeks you are welcome to drop-in and have a chat with architects and designers about your design problems and some possible solutions. Feel invited!
